Assistant quick guide

Getting started using a Robot Assistant with Control Room is quick and easy.

This guide is for the user that will trigger and interact with the robot assistant. To learn how to develop and set up robot assistants check the development guide instead.

Get your Robocorp account

Register a Robocorp account, or request an invitation from your organization.
Ensure that your account is associated with the correct Control Room workspace, or you will not be able to access the assistant.

Using the assistant

assistant-usage

  1. After linking Robocorp Assistant to Control Room, you can list of available assistants for your user and install the ones that are relevant to you.
    • Installation of a robot prepares the run environment so that when you are running, everything is ready to go.
    • Depending on the size of the assistant robot, the installation can take a couple of minutes.
  2. After you have installed your preferred assistants, you can start running the assistants
    • You can use either the tray bar or the application UI.
    • You can close the Assistant UI at any time as the execution and tray bar will remain, and executions are not affected.
    • To fully close Robocorp Assistant, use tray bar > Exit
  3. How the results are shown varies a lot based on the assistant robot:
    • You can use the Assistant UI to access the results in Control Room via the View in Cloud -button or see the local output folder via View output -button.
    • The robot implementation itself can also notify the user of the results, just like it asks for user inputs during the run.
    • In some cases, just the fact that the run completed is enough information for the end-user.

As assistants can take over your mouse and keyboard actions, it is good to have the "kill-switch" option memorized
Pressing Ctrl + Shift + 9 will terminate the active assistant run immediately.

Robocorp Assistant -application starts automatically on login so you can find it always via the traybar icon.
