The Challenge
Propero’s client is FD Works – a UK-based firm of accountants, business advisors, and Xero specialists based in Bristol and Bath. They help clients embrace their numbers, gain complete control of their finances, and achieve ambitious personal and business goals.
FD Works uses BrightPay, a UK-specific desktop payroll application, to manage and process payrolls for numerous small and medium-sized enterprises. The process includes multiple steps after initial payroll calculations.
As the firm grew, repetitive tasks were prone to errors, wasted important person-hours, and caused human fatigue.
They looked to automation to ease the process so employees could focus on more strategic finance and accounting activities.
The Solution
The Propero team worked closely to understand the accounting firm’s payroll process and BrightPay technology. After mapping all the steps, Propero leveraged Accessibility Insights for element locators and Robocorp’s Gen2 RPA platform to automate the process.
They captured all the inputs needed to access and process payroll, including email, password, employer’s name, payroll month, pay date, and other items. The Robocorp bot then uses the inputs from a JSON file to complete all the predefined payroll steps for each employer.

Propero was able to automate FD Work’s payroll process from end to end, which eliminates the need for tedious manual work, improves accuracy and quality, and gives employees the ability to focus on more strategic work.
