Software robot project workflow

Welcome to the Software robot project workflow course! This course continues from where the Beginners' course ended. Completing the Beginners' course before this one is recommended. It's like watching the Season One of a great Netflix series before starting with Season Two! Go and suffer through our failed attempt at humor and hidden popular culture references in that course first! Completing the Beginners' course will grant you the Robocorp Level I certificate!

Goals

After completing this course, you will have a good foundation for starting and maintaining software robot projects in real life, with real best practices! As the advanced tag communicates, this course is a bit more, well, advanced (๐Ÿฅ), than the beginners' one. Don't worry. We'll provide all the guidance and resources you need to succeed!

Meet YOU, the new RobotSpareBin Industries intranet admin!

RobotSpareBin Industries Inc.

No good deed goes unpunished. ๐Ÿ˜

After successfully outsourcing her weekly manual task to a software robot, Maria has been promoted. Yes, you did all the actual robot coding and heavy lifting, wiping sweat off your forehead, but since she had the original idea, Maria took all the credit. Deal with it! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

You take over Maria's responsibilities as the newly promoted (demoted?) RobotSpareBin Industries Intranet Admin. These responsibilities include maintaining and further improving the intranet robot. Maybe the management will see your promotion potential after this project! ๐Ÿคž

New business needs emerge

To further encourage the salespeople, the head honchos at RobotSpareBin Industries would like the sales results PDF file to contain personal performance reviews for each sales representative. You are responsible for implementing this motivation-boosting feature. Nothing like a public bashing praising to keep the stress levels at an all-time high!

You decide to set up the inherited robot project in a future-proof way, so that someday you can pass on the temporary hacks, creative workarounds, and all the duct tape to your successor.

Say hello to my little Bob! ๐Ÿฆพ

Another developer, Bob, joins your task force. You and Bob share all responsibility, working on the same codebase, peer-reviewing code, managing the same workspaces in the RobotSpareBin Industries Control Room organization, using production-quality best practices. Hasta la vista free time, weekends, and family! ๐Ÿค–

So it begins!
